Four whole days without human contact lay ahead, and Elizabeth was for the most part unbothered. She was well-accustomed to such isolation. Hell, at this point, her daily routine was more or less designed to avoid dealing with anyone. Before the crack of dawn, the young brunette would be up and about, tiptoeing through the house like a master thief. It was rare for her parents or brother to have stirred by the time she’d finished breakfast, gotten dressed, and headed outside to perform the morning chores. By the time her family were all driving off to their various jobs, or heading off on Sunday for church services, she’d be out in the farm’s fields, far enough off to not be worth even calling out to. My life was simple enough. Living in a small town has its perks that most people would tend to overlook. The camaraderie from the entire town makes one feel you’re in one big family even down to how we have a like or dislike for each other as one would in a sibling rivalry. As for me; I just moved out my parents’ basement, began my college course (albeit online courses) and have my shoebox of an apartment set up in a way that makes anyone describe my place as a frat pad. It may not be much, but I have my access to the internet, the rent’s not bad and the location is easily accessible to my job at the local convenience store as well as the Starbucks next to it. There also lies the local bar across my street, but it has little interest to me since I’ve grown up in a Christian household which nowadays is low- browed when it’s not a Catholic institution leading major charities.
